Earlier on I mentioned how Calton Community Council had been helping the Lodging House Mission in East Campbell Street during December 2016. They need help all year and I have highlighted below their Winter Programme. Can you help ?
Providing emergency accommodation to Glasgow’s rough sleepers
During the cold winter months, many people sleep rough in the streets of Glasgow.
Rough sleepers and people with nowhere else to sleep are welcome to use the Glasgow Winter Night Shelter for one or two night’s emergency accommodation. In the mornings, we’ll connect people to Glasgow City Council’s homelessness case team in order that homeless accommodation can be found. We’ll also connect people healthcare and other services at our city centre project and other services in the city operated by our partners.
Location and opening times
The Glasgow Winter Night Shelter operates from within the Lodging House Mission’s building on 35 East Campbell Street, off the Gallowgate, G1 5DT. It is open on a first-come first-served basis every night from 10pm during December 1st to March 31st.
Buy a bed appeal
We need your help this year to enable the Glasgow Winter Night Shelter to take place. Whilst it is totally free to the guest staying at the night shelter, the cost to us is £24.63 per person per night. Your gift will enable this lifeline service to take place and give someone who is sleeping rough a safe, warm place to sleep. In the morning after breakfast, we’ll connect the guest to council homelessness caseworkers, to a specialist NHS clinic for homeless people, to legal help and also to our city centre project and our partners in the city.
